Fall 2026
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Angel Vargas helps parents and caregivers create meaningful connections with their children. These connections start with deeply felt relationships rooted in family ties.
He begins the seminar by explaining the development stages children go through, including cognitive and psychosocial development. He identifies five ways to build connections:
-
Show genuine interest
-
Use play, fun, and themes of interest
-
Demonstrate emotional support, affection and warmth
-
Set appropriate boundaries
-
Practice daily/regular routines
Angel then identifies five ways to preserve those connections:
-
Respect their independence, autonomy and space
-
Build them up and avoid comparisons
-
Create mutual experiences
-
Bring up and talk about different topics
-
Learn how to manage and resolve conflict
Lastly, he concludes the seminar by offering tools and strategies that can help you, including many useful resources that are available in the seminar presentation.
