Parenting Through Anger

Fall 2025

Anger is an emotion characterized by tension and hostility arising from frustration, real or imagined injury by another, or perceived injustice. It can manifest itself in behaviors designed to remove the object of the anger (e.g., determined action) or behaviors designed merely to express the emotion.

In this seminar, Angel explains the role a parent and caregiver plays in raising children is providing them with care, protection, and guidance from infancy to adulthood.  By fostering emotional and physical development, instilling values, and preparing them for adulthood by teaching life skills we create a safe environment, build strong relationships, promote competence, and encourage independence.

To parent through anger, we need insight and awareness to better understand what anger is and what the contributing factors are.  Anger is:

  • A secondary emotion to fear (it’s only part of the story)

  • Concerned with righteousness or justice

  • When our sense of right is violated

And its purpose is to motivate us to take constructive action.  Factors that contribute to anger are:

  • Unresolved trauma

  • Personality differences

  • Power struggle

  • Perceptions and unmet expectations

  • Values collision

It's important to gain insight into potential sources of anger - ours and our children.  Angel will take participants through a series of questions to help you gain awareness, help you process anger, and provide tools and strategies to help you parent through anger.
