Childhood Anxiety

Fall 2025

Anxiety disorders are a group of mental illnesses that cause constant and overwhelming fear, that come in many types:​

  • Generalized Anxiety

  • Panic Disorder

  • Phobia-related (e.g., social anxiety, agoraphobia, separation anxiety, selective mutism)​​

This seminar conducts two group activities by helping attendees understand anxiety and recognizing positive well-being, unique outcomes.

Activity 1 - Understanding Anxiety

  • Individuals experience anxiety differently and in stages

    1. Feeling anxious and wanting to deal with it

    2. Attempting to avoid the situation

    3. Feeling a temporary sense of relief

    4. Returning to a state of heightened anxiety​

  • Uncover meaning in life transitions

    • Exploring the stories behind change

    • Creating distance from the problem

    • Identifying preferred narratives

    • Building meaning from experiences

    • Supporting long-term growth 

Activity 2 - Reacting to unique outcomes and recognizing positive well-being
